The majority of the world's blind people live in low-invcome and resource-poor countries. 80% of this blindness is avoidable: either preventable or treatable.
There are a number of tropical eye diseases, which although rate in the UK, may present in clinics; and the approach to many common blinding ophthalmic conditions is vastly different and important to understand.
The Peninsula and Severn Postgraduate Medical Education's International Ophthalmology Study Day will discuss tropical eye diseases, highlight the burden of global blindness and illustrate ways of being involved.
